Legislation was passed in 2014 making it a criminal offence to fit blinds in a home that do not comply with the very latest Blind regulations EN 13 120.
This action has been taken to raise public awareness of the risks that infants between the ages of 0 – 42 months are exposed to when they are playing with blind cords and chains. There are around two fatalities a year. These tragic accidents can be avoided and selecting the right blinds and installing them safely is the responsibility of your blinds supplier and this is now enforceable by law.
All the blinds supplied by the Blinds and Shutter Company are child safe and fitted in accordance with the current standard.
All reputable blind companies have taken this new standard seriously and most manufacturers have changed their production methods to create safer products.
